The weekly truth #6

This is the third time I’ve started this weeks post. This week has been quite a tough one for me and I didn’t know how to approach this weeks post. I’m just keeping it honest, just as promised.

I’m not sure what it was this week, but I had quite a few low points, for one reason or another. At one point I even decided to just cancel Christmas this year. No matter how much I tried to get a grip on myself, for some reason I couldn’t. It was weird, as nothing that bad happened and I know how lucky I am. Even now I can’t shake this almost negative feeling. No matter what I do, it’s just there. So I try and get on with my days just like I normally would. I’m currently sitting on my sofa, watching Christmas movies (trying to get into the spirit and shake whatever it is that’s going on with you) and trying to think of something to get my other half for Xmas. It snowed a little bit earlier today, not as much as further up north but I still loved having the snow.

Despite Christmas only being a couple of weeks away, I’m still not really in the spirit of Christmas. This year everything else seems to be taking over; work, yoga, relationships. Yesterday we went out for our Christmas meal with our friends, something we do every year. We meet in the pub, go down the road for curry and then go back to the pub for a few more drinks and celebrate the past year. Today, it’s made me very thoughtful about 2018 and what I’d like to achieve within the next year. I think later I’ll be taking out some time for myself and set my goals for 2018, hoping that this will shift my focus and mood.

One of the highlights of my week was when one of my regular students gave me a lovely compliment after class. IT brought back into perspective on why I teach yoga and why I originally started teaching. With Christmas just around the corner, the last couple of weeks have been a bit up and down when it comes to my classes but speaking and connecting with my students is what really makes it worth it for me. Next Saturday I’m teaching the last couple of classes for this year and it’s going to be a special one, all themed around Christmas and with a couple of surprises.

Until next week
